These reoccurring monthly posts are some of my favorites to write because it gives me a chance to reflect on the very things that have been bringing me joy and pleasure in my life recently. I am extremely grateful for so many wonderful gifts in my life, but here are 5.
5 Things I’m Loving Right Now
#1: Headspace App. If you know me, you know I love to meditate. However, even with extensive training in this area it can feel intimidating. My friend told me about this awesome App for your phone that walks you through 10 Days of simple 10 minute guided meditation and mindfulness exercises. I love everything about this app.
The guy’s voice is perfect, the design is adorable, and the video are witty. Seriously, if you have been wanting to learn how to become more mindful this is a fabulous place to start for beginners. And it’s free which I love!
#2: Homemade Chai Latte. Because I have struggled with intense anxiety in the past, caffeine is not my friend. I always opt for the chai latte at my favorite coffee shops. But here’s the deal. Those chai mixes are loaded with all kinds of artificial crap and toxins. So I’ve been on a quest to make the perfect Chai without any of the unnecessary fluff. And Voila! This is the perfect recipe that is dairy free and made with delicious and therapeutic essential oils to flavor it. You can even use plain almond milk and add a little splash of vanilla if you don’t want the flavored milk option.
#3: Super Soul Sunday’s with Oprah. I’m just going to come out and say it – I freaking LOVE Oprah! However, the things I’ve always been drawn to when it comes to her message is when she dives deep in the heart and soul of life. This is what her show Super Soul Sunday is all about. She interviews people like Brene Brown, Deepak Chopra and more.
Every episode explores the meaning of life and issues like vulnerability, shame, spirituality, mindfulness, authenticity, soul, sacredness, meditation and more. You can watch full episodes online which is what I do every Sunday.
#4: Gwyneth Paltrow’s Cookbook: It’s All Good. First of all, isn’t she the cutest! I just love her! I was so excited when this cookbook came out, but have just finally started breaking it in. She has incredibly delicious yet healthy recipes in her book. I love it because she has a lot of vegan, gluten free options. Because of her own journey back to health, she even has it where you could follow an elimination diet to uncover where your food sensitivities are. This book is beautiful, and comprised of a lot of recipes that are really simple and pack in the nutrients and superfoods. She even has a juicing/smoothie section. Finally, a girl after my own heart.
#5: CurvyYoga.com with Anna Guest-Jelley. To be fair, I have been following Anna since my journey into yoga at 240lbs a few years ago. She was such an inspiration to me and I can remember thinking “Finally! Someone who gets it, and can help me!” I dreaded walking into a yoga room with all the ballerina’s only to find that I would be suffocated by my breasts in child’s pose. However, I was determined that yoga was for every BODY. Anna’s message is so inspiring and can teach anyone who is beautifully curvy how to get amazing benefits from yoga. If you have been intimidated about walking into a yoga room of soccer mom’s fresh from their weekly facials, then this is the site for you. Anna’s heart is so authentic and honest and will help guide you into radical self love.
