A New Direction with Yours Truly
This past weekend, my husband Chris and I went away to Chattanooga to plan out our whole year…. and eat. I feel like my body needs a strong reboot from over indulging all day for 3 days. The good news? We got a lot planned, including a new and broader direction for my blog.
You may have noticed my new header at the top of the blog. If you have been following me since the beginning, you may have witnessed my quest for identity. I started as Conscious Kitchen, then switched to The Locavore Mama, and now I have finally settled on being myself: Mary Crimmins. I have been struggling with my identity for some time now. I thought for sure I wanted to be a “personality” like The Barefoot Contessa, or The Pioneer Woman. After all, they are successful right?
However what I realized was, was that I was limiting what I was writing about. I am still a dye hard locavore, but I also live a natural lifestyle. This year, expect to see posts about how to make your own natural baby wipes, body wash and skin care products. Expect to see product reviews on things like tampons, deodorant, or toothpaste. Expect to learn more about natural healthcare with essential oils. Except to get to know me. I will still be writing on all things local, and hope to share lots of helpful tips on how to make living like a locavore easier. I’ll still be writing on our food system – the good, the bad and the ugly.
So I hope you will stick with me this year as I discover more of who I am in my entirety and convey that through this blog. Cheers, here’s to being yourself!

Love the branding. It’s impactful and vibrant, speaking directly to your passions. Looking forward to the year ahead!
Jed, This Jed
Thanks so much for the compliment Jed!
Bravo, Mary! This is a welcomed new direction. Look forward to learning even more from you!
Thanks so much Andrea!
Hi Mary! Love your site and look forward to hear about you and what you have to say. I found you because apparently our moms are old college friends. So, nice to meet you!

Of course! How fun! Thanks so much for the comment, and glad you found me!
Why did this just make me cry!? Love it Mary!
Liz, hopefully that’s a good cry
Mary, I love your blog whichever name it has. I actually went to the Nashville Farmer’s Market this past weekend, primarily because of your encouragement. My local FM is only open April – October, so having a chance to visit one in the “off season” was a treat. Keep up the good work. I’m looking forward to a broader range of natural and green living topics. Well done!
Beverly, thanks so much for all your kind words. Way to go on eating local in the winter. It’s harder for sure, but worth the effort.
