Food Revolution Day
This Saturday, the 19th is Food Revolution Day led by the amazing chef Jamie Oliver. Jamie has long been a supporter of teaching children where their food comes from. He fights the system every day demanding a better world for our children to grow up in. A world where processed food is the exception not the norm.
This day is a day to get involved in helping educate your children, family and friends about what real food is. Jamie is encouraging people to host a dinner, spark a conversation, share recipes, write a blog, visit a farm, and above else begin a lifestyle of healthy and conscious eating. In my opinion, there is no better way to do this than by supporting your local farmers and becoming an active locavore.
Why? “Worldwide, obesity has more than doubled since 1980. For the first time in history, being overweight is killing more people than being underweight, and at least 2.8 million adults around the world die each year as a result of being overweight or obese. This has to change, and it’s down to us. We need to get back to basics and start thinking about where our food comes from. We need to become a conscious community and understand the food choices we make on a daily basis. We can do this by improving food education.”
Join me, Jamie and so many others in supporting the Food Revolution Day to help change our food system!

Hi. My child will be in the Nashville school system in 3 years. Do you know what the state of Nashville’s lunches are and/or anyone to contact to start a change! I love Jamie Oliver and think he is brilliant and would love to see Nashville makes changes. Since you seem to be well informed any help you can give would be awesome
I didn’t find out about this until this week. Too late to plan anything big, but I did put together a meal tonight that includes absolutely nothing processed (well, unless you count mustard and mayo – I’ve got my limits).
