Top 3 Essential Oils for Allergies

It’s that time of year again when the beautiful buds are blooming, the birds are chirping and you are cursing, sneezing and itching. Sounds idyllic – NOT. Seasonal allergies are miserable! Over 60 million people are affected by allergic rhinitis, also known as seasonal allergies and that number keeps growing every year. I was a long time user of Benadryl, Claritin and whatever else I could swallow for allergies. That was until I decided to make the change to a more natural approach, and long term solution.

Top 3 Essential Oils for Allergies:

Lavender, Lemon and Peppermint essential oils can create a powerful all-natural antihistamine. These three oils together can cool down body inflammation resulting from the body’s allergic response. And I can attest, they are miracle workers. Once you combine those 3 oils, they begin to work their magic and you have a wonderful substitution to those synthetic drugs that your body doesn’t like to process.

3 Ways to Use:

Add 3 drops each to shot glass of juice or water, swish 10-20 seconds in the mouth and swallow.*

Add 3 drops each to an empty veggie capsule (available at health food stores)*

Add 1 drop each to a spoonful of local honey for children. For adults you can do 2-3 drops each.*

*Only take internally if your oils are Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Oils. If your oils are otherwise, rub on the bottoms of your feet and cover with a sock.

How to Buy:

I highly recommend getting the Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils from my favorite brand. Just remember a bottle only has to have 10% of the actual oil in it to be considered 100% pure. Yikes! The oils I trust and use are the only ones that are 3rd party tested for purity and potency (read my blog on this here), and can be taken internally.

Start with the Introductory Kit that has the Lavender, Lemon and Peppermint in it. Retail is $26.67 and if you buy wholesale it is $20.00. Please visit My Site for this kit. If you want to buy wholesale please message me directly at info@marycrimmins.com as I have to personally set that up for you. Then whatever you buy in the future is 25% off. Plus find out 101 Uses for these 3 oils here.

Testimonials:

I’ve had several people in my home who are even allergic to cats that this combination in a capsule has worked well for. 5 drops each, Lemon, Lavender & Peppermint = results like a Sudafed. – Lisa Jones

If you can stand the taste, 2-3 drops of peppermint, lavender, and lemon in an oz or 2 of water, swish around in your mouth, and swallow. I used to take Claritin D everyday, and now I don’t have to. It has worked wonders for seasonal allergies and cat allergies for me! – Rachel Snyder

My mom has bad allergies. She says she uses 1 drop of peppermint oil tapped on her Thymus (gland right above the hollow in your throat) daily to help prevent them. When she has an additional need she takes the Lemon, Lavendar, and Peppermint in a capsule. and if needed rubs a little lavendar on her forehead and on her cheeks under her eyes. -Jaime Dye

I love the LLP combo. I also rub lavender around my eyes to relieve the itching. Just use about 1 drop to rub under eyes on eye bone and around the sides. Works wonders, and if I do both in the morning I am set for the day. – Jenni French

I can’t tell you how amazing this natural remedy is for allergies. Supporting your body with natural medicine vs synthetic medicine not only can be very effective, but can reduce all those unwanted side effects. It’s a win-win and will leave you feeling amazing. I can now breathe and have gotten rid of those headaches, sneezing and itchy eyes. I’m looking forward to long days celebrating Spring in the great outdoors!

Disclaimer: One of the most vital things you must know about essential oils is not all essential oils are created equally. In fact, most of them are worthless to your health and often synthetic. When buying essential oils make sure they are certified pure therapeutic grade. If you want to order the brand I trust and personally use, email info@marycrimmins.com.

I would like info on the essential oils and benefits related to asthma and allergies. What about diffusers?

    • Mary Crimmins January 23, 2015 at 11:13 pm #

Thanks for your comment! The blend called Breathe is great for targeting Asthma. DoTERRA’s Aroma Light diffuser is one of my favorites because you can leave it on for 8 hours straight!

Would the lavender, lemon and peppermint blend work just as effectively if it was put in a diffuser as it would if applied topically?

    • Mary Crimmins January 23, 2015 at 11:11 pm #

I think they work best when taken internally. You can always try them with a diffuser first though. I only ever recommend taking essential oils internally if they are Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade oils.

I live in a river valley and nearly everyone here suffers from terrible allergies and sinus trouble! My ears ring, crackle and hiss due to congestion even though I don’t feel badly. I am just getting started with trying essential oils and I have bought lavender, lemon and peppermint, but not DoTerra brand. Do you think rubbing the oils on the bottom of your feet is just as effective as taking them internally? I have not looked into whether or not my oils are safe for internal consumption yet so I am sticking to topical application for now. Thank you!

Yikes so sorry to hear about your awful allergies and sinus issues! I know how miserable it is to live with that and hope you feel some relief soon. I think it’s really smart to do more research about the brand of oils you have since most oil companies use synthetic oils as a filler in herbal oils. I’m not sure how effective your brand will be at topical use but I think that’s a great starting point since it’s what you have. If you’re ever interested in trying doterra oils and getting 25% off what you buy, let me know and I can email you. Thanks!

    • Mary Crimmins February 10, 2015 at 7:25 pm #

I do! I’ll shoot you an email with info on how to get it :)

My 5 year old suffers bad from seasonal allergies. The allergist we prescribed a nasal sray which seemed to help. I never though of trying essential oils. I would LOVE to find him relief in a natural way. Would the combination your talking about be suitable for a child his age? Can I order them from you if so?
    Thanks, Brianna

Aww poor little guy! I know how terrible allergies can get but you can definitely use them on him. For children under 7 years old you want to stick to just topical and aromatic uses. Then you’d dilute the oils in a carrier oil like coconut oil. I’ll shoot you an email with ordering info and info on using essential oil on children.
